2016 Fantasy Football Defenses: Number Five – Houston Texans

The Houston Texas have a challenge to overcome on defense this season. J.J. Watt is out for a few weeks recovering from surgery. He might not be ready for the start of the season. He shouldn’t miss many games, but other guys must step up for Houston this season.

The Texas put up solid numbers last season. Eight games Houston scored double-digit fantasy points. The Texans got better as the season progressed. Houston had the best two defensive games on week 16 and 17. They scored 20 and 29 points against the Titans and Jaguars respectively.

The Texans accumulated 14 interceptions (two touchdowns), 11 forced fumbles, one fumble for a touchdown and 45 sacks last season.

JJ Watt dealt with a multitude of injuries last year but played through it. He still had 17.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 57 tackles. The guy is an absolute beast.

The Texans have a good-looking schedule. They have eight good, four bad and four solid match-ups this season. The Texans should produce like a top five defense this season. Target the Texans no later than the fifth to last pick in the draft.

With a player like that leading the defense the Houston Texans need to be one of the top five teams on defense taken this draft season. Take them after filling out your bench with solid back ups.
