Kansas City Chiefs Top Ten Players Who Need To Step Up – Number Four: Chris Jones

The Kansas City Chiefs have a tough contract ahead of them with defensive tackle Dontari Poe.  With the recent contracts being handed out to top tier defensive players, Poe is in line for a huge pay day.  It is conceivable the Chiefs can’t (or won’t) pay him.  That makes sense with the drafting of defensive lineman Chris Jones in the 2nd round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Chiefs decision making in this matter will be a lot easier if Chris Jones shows them he has the talent to take on a starting role in 2017.  Jones isn’t likely going to step into Poe’s role, but he can play the defensive end spot which would allow Jaye Howard to fill in for Poe at defensive tackle (as he did when Poe was dealing with back issues last year).
