Kansas City Chiefs Players On The Roster Bubble – Number Ten: Zach Fulton
Already this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs appear to have eliminated Zach Fulton from the starting guard competition. Since his rookie season, the lineman has failed to gain hold of a consistent starting gig at a position that has seen numerous struggles the past several years.
For a lot of players, a career arc like Fulton’s would essentially be a one way ticket to unemployment. Fulton’s saving grace though is his ability to play center. He came in late in the season last year for an injured Mitch Morse and played surprisingly well in the middle of the Chiefs offensive line.
For Fulton to make the 2016 squad, he needs to show the coaches that last year wasn’t a fluke and that he can be called upon to start if Morse continues to have injury issues. With his experience at guard, Fulton can become the Chiefs primary interior backup. Being a reliable backup can be the key to a long career in the NFL.
