Kansas City Chiefs Top Rookies To Watch – Number Eight: Mitch Mathews – Wide Receiver

One of the groups that will get the most attention at Chiefs Training Camp will be the wide receivers.  Among the names to watch is UDFA Mitch Mathews from BYU.  Matthews brings a size advantage that will make him a mismatch against a lot of defenders in the NFL.

The wide receiver position has been a sore spot for the Chiefs for a while now.  Things seem on the uptick though after Jeremy Maclin broke 1000 yards…oh, and they scored a freaking touchdown!!!

The wide receiver group is open to competition this year, and there is a lot of young potential in the mix.  Chris Conly, Demarcus Robinson, Tyreek Hill, and Albert Wilson should all be in the mix.  On top of that group, the Chiefs also added veterans Rod Streater and Mike Williams on one year “prove it” deals.

Mathews will have a hard road ahead of him, and he’s likely destined for the Practice Squad.  However, if he can show that his size advantage is worth more than what another player brings to the table, the Chiefs could bite.
