Second Toughest Defense in 2016 – Houston Texans

Though Chiefs fans might not recognize it considering they walloped up on the Texans twice last season, Houston does have one of the best defenses in the entire league. They’ll host our Chiefs in the second week of the regular season, making it the third straight game between these two played on their turf.

While I hate to see a player injured, not having Watt on the field would be a huge sigh of relief for the Chiefs.

Houston’s defense would be scary enough on its own with just J.J. Watt out there, but the Texans also have Brian Cushing, Whitney Mercilus, and former first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney hasn’t done much up to this point, but he’s also been battling injuries since he joined the league in 2014. Assuming he’s healthy, he should have a breakout season, and that will only make the Texans’ defense scarier.

The Texans hate the Chiefs due to their humiliating loss to them in the playoffs last season. It’s likely that the defense has this game circled on their calendars and plan to beat up on Alex Smith all day long.

Some good news (though I hate to say that since it involves an injured player) is that Watt might miss this game due to surgery on his back. While I hate to see a player injured, not having Watt on the field would be a huge sigh of relief for the Chiefs.

Though Eric Fisher did handle him pretty well last time around. Eh? Eh?
