Fifth Toughest Tight End to Face in 2016 – Coby Fleener

This one might come as a surprise to some people, but I really think Coby Fleener will turn heads in 2016.

Once a second round pick by the Indianapolis Colts, Fleener disappointed in Indy. He was drafted to play with his college teammate Andrew Luck, but never became that elite tight end for the Colts. Fleener finished his four-year career with 2,154 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Fleener has yet to start all 16 games in a season during his young career, but if he can stay healthy, I think he’ll be one of the best tight ends in the league this year.

The reason I think that Fleener is due for a great year is because he signed with the New Orleans Saints this past offseason. Drew Brees quarterbacks the Saints and he LOVES throwing to tight ends (Jimmy Graham, anyone?).

Further proof as to how much Brees loves tossing to his tight end shows in Ben Watson’s numbers. Who is Ben Watson? He played in the NFL for 12 years, but had his best year of his career last season with the Saints, scoring six touchdowns and recording 825 yards.

Fleener is much younger than Watson, and I think Drew will love having a young studly tight end to throw to.

Fleener has yet to start all 16 games in a season during his young career, but if he can stay healthy, I think he’ll be one of the best tight ends in the league this year. The Chiefs will face him and the Who Dat clan in week seven of the regular season, and they’ll get him at Arrowhead Stadium.
