Injuries

This one eventually had to come back and bite the Royals, right? The KC Royals had been incredibly fortunate with the lack of injuries since the 2014 season, and now it seems they’re paying the price.

Here are all of the guys who have been injured and spent time on the disabled list so far this season: Alex Gordon, Mike Moustakas, Wade Davis, Lorenzo Cain, Kris Medlen, Chris Young, Brett Eibner, and Salvador Perez. Did I miss anyone?

Gordon and Moustakas collided going after a foul ball, which cost Moose his entire 2016 season and put Gordon on the DL for over a month.

Davis recently went on the DL, but should be back shortly after the All Star break. Cain is in the same boat, and his offensive power has been missed for sure.

The KC Royals had been incredibly fortunate with the lack of injuries since the 2014 season, and now it seems they’re paying the price.

Medlen and Young were both doing poorly before it was announced they were injured. Medlen has struggled to stay healthy while rehabbing in the minors and it’s possible that he could be shut down for the year.

Eibner got injured shortly after his first call up, but is back in action now.

Perez was injured when he collided with Cheslor Cuthbert trying to make an out. He spent time on the disabled list as a result, but is okay now.

All of these injuries have been incredibly unfortunate for the Royals, but it’s a part of the game. If they don’t make the playoffs, injuries will be the main reason why.

Well, injuries and the last reason on this list…
