Kansas City Royals: Five Reasons They Miss Playoffs in 2016
The Kansas City Royals are in a much different position than they were just a season ago heading into the All-Star break. They’re seven games back of the American League Central and third place overall in the division.
It’s been an interesting year for the KC Royals, and one that the newer Royals fans might not be familiar with. While the 2015 Royals were on fire for pretty much the entire season, the 2016 Royals have been red hot for one minute and then before you know it, are cold and can barely hit off any pitcher.
It’s been a frustrating season to say the least, and despite my internal optimism with the Kansas City Royals (well, most of the time), I don’t have high hopes for the boys in blue making it to the postseason this year.
As of now, the Royals sit seven games back for the American League Central title, are behind Cleveland and Detroit in the division, and tied with Chicago for third. The Royals have not led the Central since early June, and while they certainly have the time to gain on the Indians, it won’t be an easy feat.
So, what are the five reasons the Kansas City Royals won’t be headed to their third consecutive postseason? Let’s take a look.
