The Royals have been linked to quite a few players this year.

They have sent scouts to watch Josh Reddick, Rich Hill, Sonny Gray, and Danny Valencia of the Oakland A’s. They have also been said to be interested in bringing back Ervin Santana of the Minnesota Twins, or signing Matt Moore of the Tampa Bay Rays, Jeremy Hellickson of the Philadelphia Phillies, Andrew Cashner of the San Diego Padres, or Jorge De La Rosa of the Colorado Rockies.

Now, the overwhelming conclusion that can be made when looking at these players is that Kansas City are in need of and actively looking for starting pitching. The Kris Medlen/Chris Young/Dillon Gee/Mike Minor experiment seems to have run its course.

Kris Medlen and Mike Minor can’t seem to get healthy and stay healthy, Chris Young can’t keep the ball in the park this year, and Dillon Gee is showing why the New York Mets weren’t to upset with letting him go.

They also have a couple random position players thrown into the mix with Danny Valencia and Josh Reddick. These two would fill the, what is believed, holes the team has in right field and third base.

Now that the trade deadline essentially starts, the fun begins for those teams that think they have a chance to make a run this year. Should the Kansas CityRoyals be one of those teams that makes the push?
