This article shows that it hasn’t always been sunshine and sprinkles for the boys in blue when it comes to handing out big time contracts.

While Alex Gordon and Ian Kennedy are the freshest bad contracts on Royals fans’ minds, Jose Guillen still stands up as the worst in team history. He was even worse than Omar Infante and that looked like a sure thing to be the worst deal of all-time.

As bad as Infante was, he didn’t disrespect the team or the fanbase. Infante also had multiple decent seasons in his career prior to signing with the Royals while the Guillen signing was one that came a little more out of nowhere.

That contract ended going up in flames and the guy wasn’t even allowed to play in the postseason when he joined the Giants in 2010. He missed out on a chance to play in the World Series and earn a ring with San Francisco due to PED use.

A few of the other bad contracts listed here were due to the guys being older or getting injured during their time with the Royals. While that’s neither the team nor the player’s fault, they still land in the bad contract category.
