Kansas City Chiefs: Jamaal Charles Top 10 Games
By Charles Lam
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Jamaal Charles in the third round of the 2008 draft 73rd overall. Charles then became one of the best-running backs in Chiefs and NFL history. Safe to say he’s had some great games. Let’s take a look at some.
The former Texas Longhorn sprinter uses his speed to get through small creases created by the offensive line. Once he’s through the first line of defense, he’s almost unstoppable. He can out run just about any defensive back on the field. He does it all for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jamaal Charles‘ second year as a Kansas City Chief was special. He eclipsed the 1,000 yards from scrimmage mark for the first time in his career during the 2009 season. That year Charles had 1417 yards from scrimmage and the best was yet to come.
Charles’ best season came during the 2013 season. He had 1980 total yards from scrimmage. He racked up 19 touchdowns, 12 rushing, and seven receiving. He had a staggering 5.5 yards per rushing attempt while added 8.6 yards per receiving attempt.
The dual threat running back made life a living Hell for opposing defenses just the way the Kansas City Chiefs like it. The only problem was the Chiefs over used Charles. He was the offense most years for Kansas City. It worked to some degree. The Chiefs went 11-5 during the 2013 season only to lose to the Colts 45-44 in the AFC Wild Card game.
