Surprise Players to Start – Number 5: Demarcus Robinson

The first guy to appear on this list is recently drafted wide receiver Demarcus Robinson. While I don’t see Robinson getting the nod to start opposite Jeremy Maclin, his best competition right now is Chris Conley and Albert Wilson, which isn’t the most intimidating.

Robinson has what Andy Reid likes in a wide receiver, which is probably why the team selected him in the fourth round out of Florida. Robinson led the Gators in receiving yards in both 2014 and 2015, which shows that he has a knack of getting to the football and running with it.

Demarcus Robinson has his work cut out for him this summer, but the task is not impossible by any means.

Robinson could eventually be a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs, and I’m not going to rule out the thought of him winning the job this offseason. If the former Gator has a nice camp and a nice preseason, there’s no doubt in mind that Reid could elect to start him on the other side of Maclin.

Alex Smith would love having a young gun like Robinson to throw to, and this could be the type of jump start that the KC Chiefs offense needs heading into 2016.

More than likely, however, I see Chris Conley getting the number two starting job and Albert Wilson sitting behind him at third.

In other words, Demarcus Robinson has his work cut out for him this summer, but the task is not impossible by any means.
