Best quarterbacks in Kansas football history: 4. Frank Seurer

One of the more well known KU quarterbacks due to his time spent with the Kansas City Chiefs is Frank Seurer, who spent four years quarterbacking the Kansas Jayhawks football team. He was a four-year starter for the Jayhawks, which is pretty impressive.

Seurer was with the team from 1980-1983 and is second all-time in passing with 6,410 yards. He also threw 30 touchdowns, but had a whopping 56 interceptions.

Seurer’s second year with Kansas was the only year that they posted a winning record, and that was in 1981. The team went 8-4 under head coach Don Fambrough, but lost in the Hall of Fame Bowl that year.

Seurer’s second year with Kansas was the only year that they posted a winning record, and that was in 1981.

All of Seurer’s other years as signal caller resulted in losing seasons though. He threw for close to 2,800 yards in 1983, but had more interceptions (19) than he did touchdowns (14).

Despite the rough years at Kansas, Frank Seurer was a third round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1984 Supplemental NFL Draft.

Seurer never played for the Seahawks, but did spend two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He started in two games (appearing in nine) and threw for 340 yards and four interceptions in his brief NFL career. Most of his action came during the NFLPA strike in the 1987 season, where he went 0-2 as a starter.

Frank Seurer makes this list at number four.
