KU Football: Top Ten Quarterbacks All-Time
Best quarterbacks in Kansas football history: 1. Todd Reesing
There was no way that anyone else could be at this top spot but Todd Reesing. For one, the guy shredded virtually every KU quarterback record known to man. He was also the last quarterback to make the school relevant in the sport again, which is a huge feat.
Reesing was at KU from 2006-2009, but it wasn’t until the 2007 season that the young quarterback finally got his chance to shine. He led the Jayhawks to a 12-1 record, the best in KU history (though keep in mind, colleges used to play less games when most of these other guys were in school) and a trip to the Orange Bowl.
The guy brought something this school hadn’t seen in a long time and that was a fun football team to watch.
The Jayhawks finished the 2007 season with a winning record, an Orange Bow victory, and were ranked seventh nationally. It sure was a crazy time to be a Kansas Jayhawks football fan.
A lot of this was in large thanks to the efforts of Todd Reesing. He threw for 3,486 yards that year along with 33 touchdowns and only seven interceptions.
Reesing finished his KU career with 11,194 passing yards, 90 touchdowns, and 33 interceptions. Remember how I mentioned the guy had shredded every prior KU quarterback record? Yeah, no kidding.
Although the Jayhawks slowly sunk back into irrelevancy over the next two seasons (they did win the FedEx Bowl in 2008), Reesing is still hands down the greatest quarterback to roll through Lawrence. He never made it to the NFL, but the guy brought something this school hadn’t seen in a long time and that was a fun football team to watch.
He’s the best quarterback in KU football history.
