KC Chiefs: Five Free Agents Still Available To Sign
Free Agents Still Available – Number 2: Jahri Evans
The offensive line has been an issue pretty much ever since Smith and company rolled into town in 2013. Adding a guy like Jahri Evans could make sense for Kansas City, as the guy has ten years of league experience on his resumé.
Having a good offensive line can be the difference between making the playoffs or not making it at all.
The offensive line could be better this year, especially with the addition of Mitchell Schwartz this offseason, but that left guard spot is still open for the taking. Yes, there’s rookie Parker Ehinger, and veterans Laurent Duvarney-Tardif and Zach Fulton to potentially duke it out for that spot, but Evans is an experienced guard. He could add a lot to this line.
Evans probably wouldn’t sign a one-year deal, but maybe the Chiefs could get him on a two-year deal and not have to commit a whole lot of money to him. I think it’d be a risk worth taking, as the Chiefs need to beef up that line and make sure Smith gets the best protection possible this season.
Having a good offensive line can be the difference between making the playoffs or not making it at all. The Chiefs need to do all they can to make sure Smith has time to get rid of the football. Jahri Evans can help with that.
