Biggest Royals Surprises So Far This Season – Number 1: Paulo Orlando

The biggest surprise on the Kansas City Royals so far this season is Paulo Orlando.

Orlando, however, has proven that he’s a valuable member of this team and is honestly one of the best players on the team right now.

Orlando has been sensational for Kansas City. He’s slugging .368/.390/.509 in 20 games and 57 at bats. Orlando hasn’t seen a whole lot of starting time for the Royals, as Jarrod Dyson and him have been acting as a platoon in right field, but perhaps that will change soon with the way Orlando has been mashing the ball.

Just the other night against the Red Sox, Orlando went three-for-four with a single, triple, and a home run. He was one double shy of hitting for the cycle, and he continued his hot streak the other night against the White Sox.

During that game, Orlando also went three-for-four with a double and two RBI. He also scored a run in that game.

When you take into consideration that Orlando was in the minors for nearly a decade and just got his first chance last season, it might seem silly that the Royals utilize him as much as they should be. Orlando, however, has proven that he’s a valuable member of this team and is honestly one of the best players on the team right now.
