Biggest Royals Surprises So Far This Season – Number 4: Dillon Gee

It might be too soon to put him on here, but Dillon Gee has been pretty good for the KC Royals so far into the young season. In nine games (two starts), Gee has a nice 2.90 ERA and has really stepped up for the team early on into the season.

With Kris Medlen and Chris Young going on the disabled list (and performing poorly before that), Gee was promoted into the starting rotation. He’s looked decent in his two starts so far, Gee has gone 10.1 innings and allowed four runs.

The best performance for Gee as a starter (so two choices really) was in Chicago against the White Sox. He only went five innings, but allowed only one run and struck out five in the process. It was the type of outing the Royals needed from their starter, and Gee delivered.

While it’s still too soon to predict what the rest of Dillon Gee’s season will look like as a Royal, so far he’s been great, both out of the bullpen and in the rotation.
