Worst Case Scenarios – Number 2: No true number two receiver

This could actually be the most likely scenario to take place this season, as the Chiefs still don’t really have a true number two wide receiver opposite Jeremy Maclin.

Not having a true number two receiver absolutely hurts the Chiefs because defenders can double team Maclin and that puts Alex Smith in a bind.

Combine this scenario with scenario five (key injuries) and Chiefs Kingdom will be in full-blown panic mode. Maclin had over 1,000 yards receiving last year and proved that he was the missing piece for the Chiefs’ offense.

This offseason, the KC Chiefs brought on Rod Streater and Mike Williams, both of whom have had some success in the pros, but aren’t necessarily at the point of being the number two guy yet. Kansas City also has Chris Conley and Albert Wilson on the roster, and just drafted Demarcus Robinson in the fourth round this past April.

Hopefully, one of the aforementioned guys will step up into that number two role. If not, it could be another tough season in the passing game for the Kansas City Chiefs.
