Worst Case Scenarios – Number 4 – Houston missing time

Justin Houston was a bit injury prone last season and ended up missing five games. There’s been talk that he could miss anywhere from six months to the entire season, which would just suck for the KC Chiefs.

Since joining the Chiefs in 2011, Houston has racked up 223 tackles and 56 sacks. His best season was in 2014 when he started all 16 games and recorded 22 sacks, breaking Derrick Thomas‘ franchise single-season sack record.

That season was why the Chiefs gave Houston the massive deal that they did, and after one season, the former Georgia linebacker hasn’t lived up to the contract. If he got injured in 2016 and missed significant time, or can’t play due to the previous injury, it’ll be tough for the Chiefs to swallow the pill of that contract.

Now, Justin Houston and John Dorsey have both reiterated that the linebacker would be playing this season, but will he be able to keep himself healthy? When he’s at full health, Houston is a beast on the field. It’s when he’s not at full health that is concerning, and hopefully he’ll be able to stay healthy in 2016.
