KC Life: Top Ten Hermann Missouri Wineries
By Joel Wagler
Hermann Missouri Wineries Number Seven: Lost Creek
A darkhorse eases in at number seven.
Lost Creek certainly lies off the beaten path. Fifteen scenic miles east on Highway 94 (turn off Highway 19, just north of the river) will bring you to the most isolated of the local wineries.
You will have to search this one out because Lost Creek is not on the wine trail.
They have one of the smaller wine lists in the countdown, but if your tastes run in the direction semi-sweet and sweet, Lost Creek has some terrific fruitier wines just for you. The Peach and the Rasberry wines are both terrific with dessert.
For those whose tastes run toward dryer fare, their Chardonel offerings are terrific. Well-blended flavors make these white wines worth the drive into the boondocks!
A friendly staff will make you glad you took the time to seek out this hidden treasure. They also occasionally feature live music in a beautiful open setting.
If you are in Hermann during the week, Lost Creek may not be open, so be sure to check before driving out to them.
"We are open Friday through Monday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM."
Sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised, and Lost Creek certainly does!
