You can enjoy the plethora of Hermann Missouri wineries with less than a three-hour drive, or a three-hour train ride, from Kansas City.

Just fifteen miles off I-70, Hermann is gorgeously nestled up next to the Missouri River, a delightful departure from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

You won’t find any chain hotels and few chain fast food eateries in Hermann. Instead, there are dozens on cozy bed and breakfasts and a few old style motels. Many of the restaurants boast a local flavor and feature a relaxed, small town atmosphere.

Of course, there is wine. Oh boy, is there wine! The area boasts double-digit wineries, almost all of which feature grapes from the local properties. The wine is made on site, and each establishment takes pride in the product.

Many of these vintners and their families have been making wine for decades and even centuries. Hermann offers five themed wine trail events each year. Not all of the local wineries participate but each of the seven that do offer a themed dish and paired wine.

During this event, most of these Hermann wineries offer free tasting as well. Just because a winery is not on the wine trail does not mean it isn’t worthy of your patronage. They all offer something unique for wine lovers. Let’s get on with the countdown. Just remember, all offer great wine, and the list is merely subjective.
