Best Tight Ends in Chiefs History – Number 3: Fred Arbanas

In 1961, the Dallas Texans drafted Fred Arbanas in the seventh round of the AFL Draft, and the rest is history. Arbanas went on to spend his entire career with the organization, winning a Super Bowl in the process.

He finished his Texans/Chiefs career with 198 receptions for 3,101 yards and 34 touchdowns. His best season came in 1964 when he caught 34 passes for 686 yards and had eight trips to the end zone.

Arbanas was a five-time Pro Bowler (1962-1965, 1967) and was named to First-Team All-Pro three times during his career (1963, 1964, 1966). He was inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame in 1973.

The Chiefs have had some fantastic tight ends in their storied history and Fred Arbanas being the third best is proof of that. He’d be the unquestioned best tight end for most other franchises.

Arbanas stats showed that he was truly one of a kind on the field, and he helped get his team a Super Bowl title in the 1969 season, with four receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown during their playoff run that season.
