Lexington Legends: 3-3

The Lexington Legends starting things in wild fashion this week when they walked off on a wild pitch to win their first game of week. They’d finish the week 3-3.

Cody Jones, last year’s sixth-round draft pick, and Chase Vallot are leading the offensive charge for the Lexington Legends this season.

Jones has a home run and a .299 batting average on the season. He also has three doubles and two triples on the season.

This past week he amassed six hits, including that home run, to go along with a double and a triple.

Chase Vallot is batting .294 on the season with five home runs and four doubles. The Royals’ catching prospect had five hits this week and two of those went for home runs. He also struck out an eye popping ten times.

Nolan Watson is having a really rough go. In four starts, he’s lasted just 14 innings. He has an ERA of 12.86 with eight strikeouts.

The Royals’ pitching prospects didn’t do a lot to help their teams. Nolan Watson and Foster Griffin are two of the Royals’ top pitching prospects, but haven’t done well this season.

Griffin is actually having a better year so far this season than he did last season. Nolan Watson looks to be experiencing the growing pains that a lot of first-year rookies feel.

Griffin has pitched 27 innings this season and has a 4.33 ERA with 17 strikeouts. This week he mustered five innings and gave up an earned run for each inning pitched. He walked three, struck out three, and allowed eight hits.

Nolan Watson is having a really rough go. In four starts, he’s lasted just 14 innings. He has an ERA of 12.86 with eight strikeouts.

This week he lasted just 3.1 innings in his lone outing. He gave up nine hits, one walk, seven earned runs and three home runs.
