B-. . CB. Minnesota. ERIC MURRAY

This was an interesting pick, as the KC Chiefs had just drafted a cornerback in the round prior. It was evident heading into the draft, however, that Kansas City needed to add some cornerbacks due to Sean Smith departing for Oakland.

I’ll be curious to see how the Chiefs end up utilizing Eric Murray during his first year in the league.

Marcus Peters had a terrific rookie year, but he can’t defend every wide receiver that the Chiefs face. He’ll also likely be starting with Phillip Gaines, who is coming off an ACL injury last season.

Eric Murray does have the ability to play safety, so that’s the reason I gave this pick a B-. I would have liked to have seen the Chiefs go with a receiver or maybe another guard here, but they decided to keep beefing up the secondary instead.

I’ll be curious to see how the Chiefs end up utilizing Eric Murray during his first year in the league. They drafted Steven Nelson last year in the third round and he didn’t do a whole lot during his rookie year.

Hopefully, the Chiefs don’t make that same mistake with Murray.

Next: Finally, a receiver!
