PARKER EHINGER. C+. . OG. Cincinnati

The first pick for the Chiefs in round four saw them addressing a huge need at offensive guard. The guard they selected 105th overall was Parker Ehinger out of Cincinnati.

He spent time at both tackle positions as well as right guard, so he’s basically good to go anywhere along the line.

While Ehinger certainly fits a need for the Chiefs, I feel like this was a little bit of a stretch. Most analysts didn’t have him coming off the board until the sixth round and Kansas City took him very early in the fourth round.

Ehinger does provide a lot of versatility though, which is a huge bonus. He spent time at both tackle positions as well as right guard, so he’s basically good to go anywhere along the line.

With multiple spots along the line up for grabs during the 2016 season, expect Ehinger to at least compete for a starting spot. He won’t be a starter this year (at least I wouldn’t count on it), but he’s another piece should an injury occur.

The Chiefs did well drafting a position of need early in the fourth round, but I feel like there were better offensive guards that they could have taken here. Christian Westerman was still on the board and he would have been a better choice, but hey, that’s why I don’t call the shots.
