Mississippi State. CHRIS JONES. B+. . DT

The Kansas City Chiefs traded out of the first round to acquire a few more picks later on in the draft, so their first pick came 37th overall when they selected Chris Jones out of Mississippi State.

The only real reason I didn’t give this pick an A was because I feel like the Chiefs could have gone with a bigger immediate need, like at wide receiver or at cornerback.

Jones was one of the draft attendees, meaning many likely saw him going in the first round. I really feel like the Chiefs got a steal here, and it’s worth noting that Dontari Poe is in the final year of his contract, and Jaye Howard is only on a two-year deal. Jones could end up being a huge piece in the KC Chiefs defensive plans in the future.

Oh also, have you seen him dance? Nice to see so much excitement from a young guy. I think we’re gonna like this kid, Kansas City.
