Best Seventh Round Draft Picks of All-Time – Number 3: Kevin Ross (Chiefs cornerback from 1984-1993)

The Kansas City Chiefs found yet another 11-year Chief in the seventh round, this time in the 1984 NFL Draft. Kevin Ross was the team’s 173rd pick in 1984 and went on to spend 11 years as one of the team’s starting cornerbacks.

Ross was a starter from his rookie year and ended his Chiefs career with 144 starts and 156 games altogether. He racked up 827 tackles, 30 interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), and four sacks.

It’s impressive enough that Ross was one of the team’s best seventh-rounders ever, but he’s also arguably one of the team’s best cornerbacks of all-time as well. He was named to two Pro Bowls (1989 and 1990) and continued playing after 11 years in Kansas City.

After his Chiefs years, Kevin Ross spent a few years with the Falcons and finished up his career with the Chargers before actually returning to Kansas City in 1997. That final season saw Ross only playing in five games, but having him end his career in Kansas City was the right way to go.
