Best Seventh Round Draft Picks of All-Time – Number 4: Dave Szott (Chiefs offensive guard from 1990-2000)

In the 1990 NFL trade, the KC Chiefs hit the jackpot in the seventh round by drafting Dave Szott out of Penn State. Szott spent a whopping 11 years in Kansas City, which is reason enough to put him on this list.

Being with any NFL team for over a decade is impressive enough, but a seventh-rounder spending 11 years with the same team is almost unheard of.

Szott started 136 games over the span of 11 years and he played in 142 total, all at the left guard position. From 1991 to 1997, Dave Szott only missed one start. While he went downhill a bit after that 1997 season, Szott spent time with both the Redskins and Jets before hanging up the cleats after the 2003 season.

Spending 11 years with the Kansas City Chiefs merits Dave Szott’s spot on this list. It just goes to show that you never know what type of player you’ll find in the later rounds.
