Best Seventh Round Draft Picks of All-Time – Number 5: Eric Warfield (Chiefs cornerback from 1998-2005)

In 1998, the Kansas City Chiefs found themselves a starting cornerback in the seventh round in the form of Nebraska Cornhusker Eric Warfield.

Warfield spent eight years as a member of the KC Chiefs and started in 77 games during that time (played in 115 total). He ended those eight years with 330 tackles, 49 defended passes, 20 interceptions, and five forced fumbles.

While Warfield spent several years in red and gold, it didn’t come without drama. In March 2005, the cornerback was arrested for driving under the influence. He had two prior DUIs on his record and spent ten days in jail and served house arrest as a result.

Despite the legal trouble, Warfield spent a whopping EIGHT years as one of Kansas City’s main cornerbacks. From 2001 to 2004, Warfield only missed ONE start for the Chiefs. He might not have been lights out in the secondary, but for a seventh-round pick, Eric Warfield was pretty dang good.
