KC Chiefs: Ten Best Seventh Round Draft Picks of All-Time
Best Seventh Round Draft Picks of All-Time – Number 6: Ryan Succop (Chiefs kicker from 2009-2013)
The Kansas City Chiefs had the final pick of the 2009 NFL Draft and went with Ryan Succop out of South Carolina. Succop spent five seasons with the Chiefs and is one of the franchise’s best kickers of all-time.
Succop’s lowest percentage of field goals made throughout his time in Kansas City was in 2010 where he had a percentage of 76.9. He wasn’t exactly known for his distance, but he had a career-long in Kansas City of 54 yards, which he made during the 2011 season.
Succop was the Chiefs’ best player during that pitiful 2012 season, scoring the most points that year and being the only reliable guy on the team. He ended his Chiefs career with a field goal percentage of 81% and earned the Mack Lee Hill Award during his rookie year.
In 2014, the Chiefs signed undrafted free agent Cairo Santos and he eventually beat Succop out for the kicker job in Kansas City. Ryan Succop then signed with Tennessee and got to shine against his former team in the 2014 opener at Arrowhead. As of this writing, Succop is still in the league and most recently won a Super Bowl with the Bucs, which came against the Chiefs.
Not bad for the final pick of the draft.
