Yordano Ventura Vs Wade Miley

While the Mariners are sending their Ace to the mound on Friday night, the Royals may be sending theirs to the mound on Saturday.

Yordano Ventura will toe the rubber for the Royals in his fifth start of the season. He’s been impressive so far and seems to have developed into a pitcher instead of just a thrower. There’s always a little bit of nervousness that comes with a Yordano Ventura start.

So far this season, he has three quality starts. He only lasted five innings in one outing or he’d likely have four of them.

In 23 innings pitched this season, he has allowed 15 hits and 14 walks. He’s struck out 23 batters and carries a 2.35 ERA.

Against the Mariners he’s been pretty good. They are 8-46 overall against Ventura and Ketel Marte is 3-3 against him. The rest of the lineup is 5-43 with 15 strikeouts.

The Royals also have good experience against Wade Miley. They are 19-75 against the left-handed pitcher and have a slash line of .253/.317/.333.

Salvador Perez likely can’t wait to step into the box against Miley. Hopefully, there will be runners in scoring position when he steps to the dish as he’s 5-6 with a home run against Miley.

Morales is 3-6 and Moustakas is 2-9 with a home run. With any luck, Cain’s two off days in a row will help him get back on track and remember how much he likes to feast on lefties.

So far this season, Miley has pitched 23 innings and has no quality starts. He has 19 strikeouts and has allowed six walks and 32 hits to the tune of a 7.04 ERA. The Royals need to take advantage of a struggling pitcher and gain some confidence.
