Best Sixth Round Selections of All-Time – Number 8: Tom Barndt (Chiefs defensive tackle from 1995-1998)

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Tom Barndt with the 207th overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft. He went on to spend four seasons in Kansas City, jumping between defensive tackle and nose tackle.

Barndt started just one game in his first two seasons but appeared in 29. It was his third year as a Chief where he became a full-time starter at nose tackle, where he also recorded 27 tackles and three and a half sacks.

Considering that Barndt was chosen 207th overall, the Chiefs could consider him a steal. He started every game in 1998 and started 13 in 1999.

He then moved onto the Bengals in 2000 and finished his career with the Jets in 2001.

Much like the other players on this list, Tom Barndt wasn’t a big name, but he could be considered a value pick in the draft, considering what the Chiefs got for him. Four seasons, 30 starts, 61 games played in, 59 tackles, and eight sacks isn’t too shabby for a sixth-round draft choice.
