By Scott Dillon
The KC Royals finished their third week of the season with a 3-3 record, but how have their Minor League prospects done?
The KC Royals dropped the first game of the week when the bullpen gave allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to score in Oakland. The Royals rebounded by winning a series against their division rivals; the Detroit Tigers.
They opened up against Baltimore with a win on a dominant performance by pitcher Chris Young. The tall right-handed pitcher struck out ten Orioles hitters in his first win of the season.
Kris Medlen didn’t fare so well in his outing. He was accredited with seven earned runs through just 3.2 innings of work. He gave up nine hits and walked three while his ERA jumped up to 6.00 on the season.
Dillon Gee made an inspiring appearance after Medlen got hit around. He did allow two inherited runners to score, but he pitched 4.1 innings of three hit baseball and struck out five Orioles hitters. His ERA dropped to 0.96 on the season and he gives the Royals an option for the rotation.
Yordano Ventura will look to earn his second win of the season later today when the Royals look to win their second consecutive series. The last time Ventura pitched against the Orioles at Kauffman stadium was one of his best outings ever.
Let’s take a look at how the Minor League affiliates fared this week. Some Royals prospects didn’t fare too well.
