Ian Kennedy Vs Jordan Zimmermann

This match-up features two pitchers who have spent most of their careers in the National League. Both Jordan Zimmermann and Ian Kennedy were surrounded by question marks in regards to how they’d fare against American League hitters. Both have impressed so far.

So far this season, both Zimmermann and Kennedy are 2-0. Zimmermann has pitched 13 innings without allowing a run and has a WHIP of 1.000.

Kennedy has given up just one run in 13.2 innings of work. That run came on a good piece of hitting by Jose Altuve who powered a good pitch over the opposite field fence. He’s got an ERA of 0.66 and a WHIP of 0.732 to go along with 14 strikeouts.

Zimmerman has had only one appearance against the Royals in his career. He’s 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in 7.2 innings of work in that time. Omar Infante, who’s out to a good start this season, is just 3-17 in his career against Zimmermann. Alcides Escobar, Mike Moustakas, and Eric Hosmer each have one hit against the right-handed pitcher.

Ian Kennedy hasn’t fared so well against the Tigers’ hitters. He’s 0-2 in three starts against the Tigers during his career with a 5.71 ERA. Ian Kinsler is 5-7 off of Ian Kennedy with three doubles, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Based on his stats against the Royals’ pitching for this series, he could be a Royal pain in the you know what.
