Northwest Arkansas Naturals: 2-3

The Naturals posted a losing record on the week and dropped three of five. They’re also now winless in six games against the Frisco Rough Riders this season.

Once highly touted prospect Bubba Starling is batting just .167 on the season. He had two hits this week but struck out seven times. He looked like he turned a corner last season with a hot start and decent numbers throughout the season, but this isn’t the start he wanted to get out to.

One of the Arkansas Wins came in comeback fashion. They scored three in the eighth to help secure a 5-3 victory. While Starling hasn’t had a good start, his lead-off double in that inning helped spark the comeback.

Meanwhile, Hunter Dozier and Raul Mondesi are both raking for the Naturals. Both are in the upper echelon of Royals’ prospects. Dozier has three doubles and a pair of home runs while Mondesi as two doubles and three home runs.

Mondesi also has six steals on the year. Those are the only two Naturals with a batting average .300 or better so far this season.

Alec Mills had an awesome outing this week in a 3-0 victory. He went six innings and struck out nine while allowing only two hits and one walk. In 11 innings of work this season he has 16 strikeouts and a 0.82 ERA. He’s also only allowed the one walk.

Benino Pruneda is also showing some swing and miss stuff with eight strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. He does have a couple of walks, but so far the strikeouts jump off the page.

Matthew Strahm took a loss this week . The left-handed prospect gave up four earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. He struck out five and gave up hits and three walks.
