KC Chiefs: Ten Best Fifth Round Draft Picks of All-Time
Best Fifth Round Picks of All-Time – Number 3: Dante Hall (Chiefs return specialist from 2000-2006)
In the 2000 NFL Draft, the KC Chiefs selected the best return specialist in team history in Dante Hall. Hall attended college at Texas A&M.
Anyone who watched Hall during his seven years in Kansas City won’t question why he’s so high on this list. Hall was incredible in the return game, returning 11 total touchdowns on special teams.
Hall’s success in the return game began in 2002 when he returned two punts and one kickoff for touchdowns. The next season he had two apiece and averaged 16.3 yards per punt return.
From 2002-2006, Dante Hall had over 1,000 yards on kickoff returns, which is insane to think about. He finished his Kansas City career with 8,644 kickoff return yards and six touchdowns. Punt return-wise, he had just shy of 2,000 yards and five touchdowns.
Hall was voted to the Pro Bowl twice (2002 and 2003) and was named All-Pro in those same years. He was the NFL Special Teams Player of the Year in 2003 and the NFL Kickoff Return Yards Leader in 2004. Hall made it onto the NFL 2000s All-Decade team.
After seven seasons in Kansas City, Dante Hall was traded to the St. Louis Rams and spent two seasons there. Injuries derailed Hall’s career and he was out of the league after the 2008 season. He is hands down the best return man in Kansas City Chiefs history.
