Best Fifth Round Picks of All-Time – Number 4: Brandon Carr (Chiefs cornerback from 2008-2011)

The 2008 NFL Draft saw the KC Chiefs selecting Brandon Carr out of Grand Valley State (where?). Carr spent four seasons with the Chiefs and started every game during his four years in town. He ended his Chiefs career with 211 tackles, 63 defended passes, and eight interceptions.

Carr was a huge steal for the Chiefs when you consider what production they got out of him. He was a fifth-round pick out of a small school and went on to start all 16 games in four straight seasons. Carr played alongside Brandon Flowers during his four years in Kansas City (they were both drafted in 2008, only Flowers was a second-round pick), and it was always fun watching the two Brandons man the secondary.

It was no surprise when Carr became one of the most coveted free agents after the 2011 season. He ended up signing with the Dallas Cowboys on a five-year deal worth $50.1 million and has one more year remaining on that deal.

Carr has still yet to miss a start during his eight seasons in the pros and that’s what makes him one of the Chiefs’ best fifth-round picks of all-time.
