KC Chiefs: Five Biggest Draft Busts Over Last Five Years
Biggest Draft Busts Since 2011 – Number 2: Nico Johnson
The other bad pick for the Chiefs in the 2013 NFL Draft was Nico Johnson, whom they selected 99th overall in the fourth round.
Nico Johnson is only 25 years old and has already been with four NFL teams. He had a lot of potential coming into the league, having been on three National Championship teams at Alabama (2009, 2011, and 2012), but never delivered.
Johnson went on to play in an underwhelming six games and getting one start while a member of the KC Chiefs. He never did anything while on the team and it became pretty evident after the 2013 season that the “Nico Johnson Era” in Kansas City would never be a thing.
Johnson was released in 2014 and went on to spend time in Cincinnati that season. He played in 11 games there and started two. Johnson currently is a member of the New York Giants, where he played in one game last season and was on their 53-man roster by the end of the 2015 season.
Nico Johnson is only 25 years old and has already been with four NFL teams (he briefly spent time on the Redskins’ practice squad in 2015). He had a lot of potential coming into the league, having been on three National Championship teams at Alabama (2009, 2011, and 2012), but never delivered.
It wasn’t meant to be though, and Nico Johnson is one of the biggest draft busts for Kansas City since 2011.
