13th Pick: Reggie Ragland | Inside Linebacker

Much like the Treadwell trade, the KC Chiefs would be forced to trade for a pick above the Raiders to avoid mayhem.

Even so, this trade for Reggie Ragland still features the least amount of value given up by the KC Chiefs.

Only a total of three extra picks would have to be given up by the KC Chiefs, and the future draft picks are future third and fourth round picks, which are both reasonable asks.

  • This trade would still require the KC Chiefs to sit out until the fourth round after drafting Ragland.

Considering the minimal value the KC Chiefs stand to give up long-term, it may be worth trading for the best inside linebacker in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Ragland’s ability to defend the run would make the KC Chiefs defense even more of a run stopping powerhouse.

In addition, he appears to have the instincts and football IQ to make up for play deficiencies.

The inside linebacker spot adjacent to Johnson’s was most certainly a weak spot in an otherwise stout KC Chiefs defense.

Adding Ragland converts this weakness into an advantage, and could make things extremely difficult for opposing rushers attempting to gain yards on the ground.

Despite this trade’s advantages, I’m not certain whether the KC Chiefs defense can handle waiting until the fourth round or later to address the cornerback position.
