By letting Smith go this offseason, Dorsey made his high regard for Marcus Peters quite obvious.

  • Dorsey would have kept Smith if he thought he could, but the players Dorsey prioritized this offseason suggests cornerback is not a position he’s worried about.

Regardless of Dorsey’s state of mind, Peters remains as the only true cover corner on the KC Chiefs roster after Smith’s departure.

Even if the KC Chiefs decide to draft another cover corner, Peters will still be the number one option at the position.

Peters will be expected to assume Smith’s coverage responsibilities, which will be no easy task.

In addition, the loss of Houston may lessen the KC Chiefs pass rush.

This may make things more difficult for Peters, but he must deliver.

Dorsey made a huge bet on Peters to rise to the occasion, so the KC Chiefs Super Bowl chances may depend on his ability to do so.
