The KC Royals accomplished a lot in 2015 and fans have basked in that glory all off-season. With the start of a new season it’s time to focus on the future.

The KC Royals will kick off another season later tonight. While the last couple of seasons have kicked off with a lot of anticipation and excitement, this year is a little bit different.

Last year they started the season on a mission to prove that 2014 was no fluke. They got off to a great start by decimating the Chicago White Sox on opening day and running out to a 7-0 start to begin the season.

They tested their depth early as Alex Rios was injured in that seventh game and they had to replace him for the next few weeks of the season. They would then lose Alex Gordon for two months and have not just their player depth tested, but their mental mettle as well.

The Royals open this season as the defending World Champions and have a little bit different mission in 2016.

This year they have to prove that they didn’t become complacent in the off-season. They have to show that they can do what so few teams have and no team has done since the 1998-2000 Yankees. They have to go out and try and repeat as World Champions.

Let’s take a look at five reasons the Royals are going to be World Series champs again this season.
