Round 4 | Pick 28: Deiondre’ Hall

I understand why this pick may be puzzling considering that Alexander was already drafted in the first round. Although Deiondre’ Hall is listed as a cornerback, he started out as a safety and displayed his versatility within Northern Iowa’s defense for the course of his career.

  • It isn’t really fair to list Hall as a corner in the context of the KC Chiefs needs. The main reason why I selected Hall is because he appears to be a great candidate to replace the versatile Husain Abdullah who recently announced his retirement from football.

Zierlein had mixed reviews about Hall’s ability. “Long and lanky with the arm length and interception production that will have teams trying to find a spot for him,” he said.

“Hall doesn’t have the speed or mirror and match ability to be a sticky man-cover cornerback and his thin frame isn’t ideal as a safety.”

“However, Hall’s instincts and tackle production scream safety if he can add muscle to his frame.”

If Hall was to fill Abdullah’s role in the KC Chiefs defensive scheme, then Hall may not have to be the one-on-one corner like they would expect of Smith, Peters, or Alexander.

I think Hall’s lack of a true position caused him to fall to the KC Chiefs who would certainly be able to utilize his skills if this were real life.
