Eighth: Matt Vasgersian – Cain scores from first

Everyone remembers Lorenzo Cain‘s mad dash to home in game six of the ALCS, but it’s not the first time in the playoffs that he scored from first on a single.

In the decisive game of the ALDS, Cain also used his speed on the base paths to score on a single by Eric Hosmer. The only real differences in these plays were that Cain was running on this play and there was already an out in the inning.

It also wasn’t the go-ahead run in this case, but it did get the Royals on the board on their way to another come from behind win.

"“Cain to third easily. Gomez fell down and Cain NEVER STOPPED RUNNING” – Matt Vasgersian"

Listening to Matt Vasgersian call games can be a little bit maddening at times. It doesn’t help that the stakes are already high. When he gets so excitable, the fans on the wrong side of the play get a little salt in the wound.
