First: 2014 ALCS Game Three – The Catch

Mike Moustakas is what Orioles dream of when they have nightmares. If he’s not blasting home runs or setting records for RBIs in a game, he’s doing everything possible to record an out.

In game three of the ALCS in 2014, the Royals were frustrating the Orioles on the defensive side of the baseball.

Nothing the Orioles did seemed to get a ball to land. Moustakas made a great diving catch that we’ll consider an honorable mention to his real shining moment in game three.

It didn’t seem like he was going to be able to do anything defensively in that game that would outshine that play, but that proved to be wrong.

In the sixth inning and the Royals and Orioles were tied. Moustakas wasn’t willing to let Adam Jones get any more chances to put the Orioles on top and did some crowd surging to ensure that wouldn’t happen.

It wasn’t exactly a pivotal moment in the game. It did however get the fans even more fired up and earned Moose a bobble head to enshrine the moment.

When looking back on all of the great things that Moustakas has done in the past couple of postseasons, one play really stands out. It’s hard to argue that it isn’t one of his best plays.
