Third: 2014 ALCS Game One – Two-Run Insurance Home Run

Alex Gordon played the big hero in this game as he put the Royals ahead in the tenth inning with a solo shot after getting drilled in the head earlier. It was Mike Moustakas’ home run though, that sealed the Royals’ victory.

Mike Moustakas became a home run crushing machine in the 2014 postseason out of the ninth spot in the lineup. He set a Royals’ record with five home runs in the same postseason as he came up with clutch hit after clutch hit.

While this night was remembered more for Gordon’s heroics, it may not have happened if Moose hadn’t added some insurance. The bullpen actually faltered in the bottom half of the inning when Greg Holland gave up Gordon’s run, so its a safe bet that Moustakas won the game for them.
