Zack Wheeler: ADP – Undrafted

In 25-man formats, Zack Wheeler isn’t even being drafted, but why not burn a pick on him with your final pick of the draft. You’re not likely to get much value there anyways.

At that point, you’ve probably already got most of your starters picked out and you’re likely looking for depth pieces. If you have a DL slot in your lineup you can slot Wheeler into that spot and then head to the waiver wire for a replacement.

Wheeler is recovering from a Tommy John‘s surgery he endured last March but is expected to back at the beginning of July. That means he’s going to get plenty of baseball in this season.

In 2014, Wheeler was 16th in the league in strikeouts and he averaged more than a strikeout per inning. He also carries a very respectable ERA of 3.50 in his short career. His WHIP isn’t all that desirable because he walks so many batters, but he’ll get that under control at some point.

For a player that you are only going to use for the second-half of the season, a guy that strikes out a batter per inning is a great find.
