KC Royals: Alex Gordon Five Biggest Moments
By Scott Dillon
Second: 2014 ALCS Game One – Big Knock
Alex Gordon had a phenomenal game in the first game of the American League Championship Series in 2014.
He started things out with a bases-loaded double that even sent Billy Butler to the plate from first base. That’s no easy task.
The Royals had watched a sizable lead slip away and the game was tied at five runs a piece in the eighth inning. That’s when this happened:
Alex Gordon got plunked by Andrew Miller in the shoulder and neck area. It didn’t take long to figure out that it hadn’t hurt him, but instead fired him up:
With no outs in the tenth inning and the score still tied at five, Gordon yanked a ball that was up in the zone to right field. There was no doubt that ball was leaving the yard off the bat.
The Royals would relinquish a run in the bottom half of the inning but Mike Moustakas had added some insurance with a two-run shot of his own.
