Kansas City Chiefs Take Best Available In 2016 Mock Draft

Round 4 – Pick 28: Maliek Collins, Defensive Tackle (Nebraska)
The KC Chiefs take on something of a project in Maliek Collins with their fourth-round pick in the draft class but that’s okay.
The good news for the Chiefs is that they retained most of their core along the defensive front. Bringing back Jaye Howard and Tamba Hali was a big move for the Chiefs, but having solid depth pieces is a great play also.
See what NFL.Com has to say about Maliek Collins:
"Three-technique with impressive athleticism and movement skills, but a lack of play strength to hold up at the point of attack. Collins needs to play for a defense that allows him to play up the field and should benefit from pass rush work with NFL coaching and teammates. Collins should test well which could push him way up the draft board, but his floor is lower than many of the defensive tackles in this draft."
Maliek Collins Combine Results
- 40 Yard Dash: 5.03 seconds
- Bench Press: 25 reps
- Broad Jump: 109 inches
- Three Cone Drill: 7.53 seconds
- 20 Yard Shuttle: 4.52 seconds
- Vertical Jump: 29.5 inches
Collins would likely benefit as a backup player or in a reserve role during his first season. If he needs the benefit of working with the coaching staff, Bob Sutton has proven to be great at developing pass rushers. Playing alongside some great rushing talent should only further enhance his abilities.
Collins is also a local kid. He played his high school ball in Kansas City and would likely welcome the chance to play for his hometown team.
