Kansas City Chiefs Take Best Available In 2016 Mock Draft

Round 2 – Pick 28: Hunter Henry, Tight End (Arkansas)
This is a pick that the Chiefs don’t likely need to make and likely wont make in real life. It is still a very intriguing prospect however. Hunter Henry is the best tight end in this year’s draft class.

The Chiefs are already set at this position with Travis Kelce taking the lion share of the snaps at tight end. They also saw promise out of James O’Shaughnessy last season before his season was over. Demetrius Harris also came around towards the end of the season and gives the Chiefs a bit target in the red zone.
NFL.com had this to say about the tight end:
"By far, the premier tight end in the 2016 draft. Henry is a big body with the athleticism to get open, the hands to finish catches in traffic and the blocking ability to help give a running game the additional kick it might be missing on the edge. Henry should come in and become a very good NFL starter."
While the Chiefs already have a logjam at tight end, there’s no reason they should pass up on a guy that’s being compared to Jason Witten.

Saying that Henry compares to Jason Witten certainly looks good on paper, but he’d have to prove a lot to reach that kind of ceiling. Witten has been one of the most consistant tight ends in the game and has been a very reliable target for his quarterbacks.
Giving Alex Smith, who’s been labled a game manager, another target on short third down tries isn’t a bad idea.
