The KC Chiefs have done a fine job at retaining some key free agent departures. Who will they draft to fill out their roster?

For this edition of the KC Chiefs mock draft they took the best available player that remained in each round. Because they chose the best player available and ignored positions of need, it could create some logjams.

While the Chiefs are currently without their third-round pick, I took the optimistic approach to the appeal’s process in hopes that it would be overturned. While the Chiefs may not get to take a player in the third-round this season, they’re picking someone in the mock draft.

I used Fanspeak’s On the Clock NFL Mock Draft Simulator and used the big board over at NFLMock.com.

The KC Chiefs have eight total picks this year if you count the one they’re trying to win back. They also have two picks in the fifth-round, which may help compensate the potential loss of that third-round pick.

The Chiefs ended this mock drafting five players on offense and three on defense. Again, not all of them fill a position of need, but they all were the best player remaining at the time they were drafted. Let’s see if that strategy would work for the Chiefs.
